politics sports popular culture and assorted postmodernist gibberish

I thought I saw this at Borders Books last night, so I checked Amazon.com and indeed it is true. Someone has written a book about the always relevant (only, NOT!) and always thrilling (also, NOT!) football rivalry between Indiana and Purdue.

Now, a book on Purdue vs. Indiana basketball would make sense, since both schools have a rich tradition of success in that sport. Purdue-Indiana football, on the other hand, means little to anyone who is not a fan of either the Hoosiers or the Boilermakers. Indiana has not had much success on the gridiron since 1967 when they made their most recent Rose Bowl appearance. Purdue has fared somewhat better, but still tends to be known as an upstart team that occasionally pulls off an upset (hence the "Spoilermakers" moniker) and not as a true perennial contender like Michigan, Ohio State, or Penn State.
