One of my favorite websites is that of James Howard Kunstler, an insightful critic of late capitalist culture including suburbia. In one of his recent entries he describes the United States as "The reality-oblivious nation of mall hounds, bargain shoppers, happy motorists, NASCAR fans, Red State war hawks, and Born Again Krispy Kremers."

Sounds about right to me, as I look around and see all the Hummer Driving Jackasses with Support the Troops and Bush For President stickers on their overpriced, gas guzzling pieces of crap.

In other news, El Presidente has nominated another right wing corporate puppet to the Supreme Kangaroo Court of Amerikkka.

Today's topic for discussion...Amerikkka is becoming more Sovietized and Disneyfied at the same time...with a touch of Christian Fundamentalism thrown in to boot. Political corruption and bureaucratic rigidity (Sovietization) + Society of the Spectacle (Disneyfication) + Christian Ayatollah Theocracy = where the USA seems to be heading.

Unless we stop it by, among other things, Thinking Outside The Box At Election Time and voting for Green Party candidates instead of Republicrats and Demublicans.
