Some random thoughts on this weekend's college football:

Connecticut will beat (overrated, pathetic) Syracuse. This really shouldn't be, but Syracuse has gone way beyond garden variety overrated and now just plain sucks.

Central Michigan vs. Army...my undergraduate alma mater (CMU) vs. my brother's (West Point). The Chippewas are favored by two and they indeed will beat the Cadets, or Black Knights of the Hudson, or Long Grey Line, or whatever Army actually calls its teams.

Michigan will beat Minnesota and once again deny the Gophers the Little Brown Jug.

Toledo vs. Eastern Michigan...I may be totally out of my mind but I see an upset possibility here, or at least Toledo not quite covering the 20 1/2 point spread.

Akron will rebound from their loss to Central Michigan and beat Quite Possibly The Worst Team In Big Time College Football (that would be the U of Buffalo, folks!).

Florida will have no problem with MSU...that's Mississipi State U.

Florida State will similarly have no problem with Wake Forest.

Indiana vs. Illinois, Or, The Battle For The Big Ten Basement. Indiana is favored by six but this could go either way, and either way who cares?

Louisville will beat North Carolina, quite possibly by significantly more than the 12 point line.

Miami of Florida may not cover the 35 point spread but they will definitely NOT lose to Duke. If this was basketball, the opposite would be the case of course.

I would really like to see the Evil Empire of Southern California fall against Arizona, but it is more likely that U$C will cover the 37 point spread than lose to Zona.

Wisconsin will lose to Northwestern, oh yeah!

Purdue will take care of business against (overrated) Iowa at home.

Upset special!!! Oklahoma is gonna beat Texas! Or maybe I am out of my mind...take yer pick!

Penn State will edge Ohio State at Crappy Valley, but then Joe Pa's gang will become the second undefeated team to lose to Michigan when the teams meet the following week at Da Big House in Ann Arbor.

Southern Mississippi (the alma mater of the Greatest Quarterback Ever) will beat Tulsa.

West Virginia will croak Rutgers, well, because Rutgers sucks!

Maryland will hammer hapless Temple, you can take that one to the bank, Jack!

That's all for now...
