politics sports popular culture and assorted postmodernist gibberish

I have commented in past posts on Genesee Towers, a decrepit 1968 vintage high rise office building/parking garage in downtown Flint, Michigan. For some time now, the sidewalk around this sad piece of architecture has been blocked off...because of concern that parts of the run-down building may fall off and injure or kill someone.

I believe it was somewhere in one of Fredric Jameson's writings, or maybe one of the other Postmodern critics, that I encountered the phrase "the city's fallen fabric." Perhaps no more literal illustration of the phrase exists than Flint's own Genesee Towers.
