After starting the 2006 season with five wins in a row, the Detroit Tigers have now lost three straight and have fallen out of first place. All three losses have been close, and the last two have been against the defending World Series champion White Sox. So we will see what we will see as far as this year's Tigers.

The Red Wings clinched the President's Cup which goes to the NHL team with the best regular season record, but of course they have their eyes on another Cup...the one named after Lord Stanley.

Motown's entry in the men's NBA is also on the verge of clinching best regular season record and home court advantage for the duration of the playoffs. I see them getting it, and both them and the Wings bringing championships home to Detroit. Or Auburn Hills, in the case of the Pistons.

Michigan women's gymnastics wins the NCAA northeast regional and advances to the national championship meet. This is a program that has been consistently excellent in recent years but has yet to take that last step and win a national championship. They will do it this time around.

Michigan softball is the defending national champ, and although they have struggled some this season they are still in fine shape at 25-10 overall and 5-1 in the Big Ten. A trip to Iowa is next, where the Wolverines will face another perennial Big Ten contender in the Hawkeyes.
